In naming high achievers is not a header that  pigeonholes an individual rather allows them to see themselves in a wave of success that they have so worked hard to achieve.

The last 10 years have seen a notable U turn in how leaders approach their lives, their careers in particular the time and dedication to health and fitness.

Name them what you like, white collar  business people, CEO’s, MD’s or successful management in large corporations.

70’s 80’s and 90’s saw the rise large multinationals with leaders who were not fit to tie their own shoe laces without having to breathe in. Now we see the chiseled form, agile, flexible and fast thinking leaders who are robust for a demanding days work yet always setting the example for their team! Impressive! Quite the change in trend of hiking off to the pub at the end of the day.

No surprise a 5/6am rise with exercise topping the daily agenda, being the backbone of their routine in seeing the leaders image evolve for the better.

Seriously impressive when you consider the demanding working week they have. Not to mention potentially having a responsibilities in the home life, although not allowing distraction or excuses. We all know exercise can be the first hobby to be dropped during demanding times.

We see the likes Tony Robbins with an impressive marathons per week,  practicing taekwondo and in the gym every other day. Yet still have had time to be a family man, running a multi billion dollar portfolio and spending time for friends?

There is a serious commitment to Health and wellness and long may it last it’s certainly something we could all factor more of in our week.

6 factors that contributing to this trend

  1. Education about the benefits of healthy eating and exercise is available in abundance.

  2. Popularity- it is certainly cool now to workout in the gym or go for a run, eat well and share this within a community.

  3. Simply, 70 years for males and 72 years for females according to the UN 2015. Life expectancy is a lot longer , the general population want to live longer and are doing something about it.

  4. Strength, durability and robustness helps with everything in life, when one feels good one performs better, fact!

  5. Drive - high achievers have an unwavering drive to do more, push boundaries and test themselves in areas they never have. We push ourselves to our limits and all of a sudden realise the elevator goes one more.

  6. Leaders realises now the importance of employee wellness particularly the focus on mental health- a commitment is definitely evident in the corporate world to provide employees with the avenue to look after themselves more, by setting the example.
